Players Championship 2013: Tiger Woods Comes Out on Top After Sergio Garcia’s Collapse
After the exchange of words that took place earlier in the tournament, it was Tiger Woods who got the last laugh over Sergio Garcia as Tiger came through when it mattered the most on the final two holes to win this year’s 2013 Players Championship. Everybody was excited to see how Sunday would play out after Garcia accused Woods of instigating crowd noise in the middle of one of his shots on Saturday and with the two players tied heading into the final two holes–it was Garcia who couldn’t handle the pressure.
It’s one thing for a golfer to hit a ball into the water once, but the fact that Garcia did it three times on the final two holes that resulted in a quadruple and double bogey–well this just made things easier for Tiger as he managed to shoot par on both holes. Give Tiger credit for winning his fourth title of the year and once again, it looks like Lindsey Vonn continues to be an inspiration for his solid and improved play.
Woods is quickly becoming one of the most popular players for fans to follow once again and it will be interesting to see if he can continue this solid play. As for Garcia, it will be interesting to see how he bounces back after falling just short in this tournament. The fact that Garcia collapsed on the final two shots and it was in a good position to give Woods a run for the title has to be one of the most frustrating things in the world to deal with and certainly won’t be easy to bounce back.
