No Everett Golson for the 2013 college football season. The hotshot young quarterback who led Notre Dame to the BCS National Championship this year is no longer enrolled at South Bend after a startling announcement on Saturday night. But he’s not done, or at least that’s what he says; Golson is planning to sit out the 2013 season and return to the Irish in 2014.
The specifics are not available; all we know is that Golson is serving an academic suspension for what would have been his sophomore season at Notre Dame.
Golson was a huge part of Notre Dame’s unbeaten 2012 regular season and run to the title game, starting in 11 of 13 games, and completing 58% of his passes for 2,405 total yards and 12 touchdowns with just six interceptions.
Regarding the suspension, Golson said he, “takes full responsibility for his poor judgment and reassures his audience that he can be relied upon in the future, as both a better student and athlete.”
What do you think? Will Golson be back or is he out for good? Should he be allowed back in 2014, especially if the Irish fare well without him this season? Let us know by leaving a comment below, or tweet us your response by including the R-M-L hashtag.
