Aaron Hernandez’s Reported Murder Arrest Puts New England Patriots in a Jam

Things just keep getting worse for the New England Patriots as a Boston Globe affiliate is reporting that tight end Aaron Hernandez will be arrested in connection with the murder of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd, who was found dead on Monday evening in an industrial park near Hernandez’s home in North Attleborogh, Mass. The report says the body was “about a mile” from the huge house that was searched twice by police this week.

A rented vehicle found near the crime scene led police to Hernandez, who was reportedly driving the vehicle that left his home with four total passengers, including Lloyd. The report also states that forensic evidence “directly ties” Hernandez to the crime scene, which will result in his arrest.

Hernandez was also in the middle of a lawsuit alleging he shot a Connecticut man in the face back in February. Why he wasn’t arrested for that case is unknown, but now he’s in hot water and so are the Patriots.

Rob Gronkowski will likely miss at least the start of the season due to injury, so all the jokes about Tim Tebow possibly playing tight end for New England this year aren’t funny anymore because it’s a real possibility now. It’s also intriguing that Tebow was signed just days before the news broke about Hernandez, which could lead some to believe the Patriots knew something was up.
