NBA Draft 2013 Preview

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft is wide open and the latest reports say the Cleveland Cavaliers are keeping the pick, so the lucky player chosen will be faced with the challenge of helping Kyrie Irving rebuild this broken franchise.

Some sources are now saying the Cavs have narrowed their choice to two players: Nerlens Noel and Alex Len, the top two centers in this year’s draft class. That’s no surprise considering Cleveland desperately needs a force in the paint.

So then what? Well, Orlando says it will take Noel if he falls to No. 2, so they must be thinking big man as well. It’s safe to assume these two centers go one and two.

After that, we’ve got some scorers. Otto Porter Jr., Ben McLemore, Victor Oladipo, Trey Burke and CJ McCollum could each shoot up into the top three or fall near the latter portion to the top 10 and there’s really no way to predict it. Regardless, most of the teams with lottery picks are going to get solid players around which they can build their futures.

Bust alert is on Anthony Bennett, Cody Zeller and Oladipo as all of them have worlds of potential, but plenty of red flags as well. Many believe Oladipo could go as high as No. 3 overall while Bennett and Zeller could easily fall near the end of the lottery.

Here’s a challenge for you: predict seven of the top 10 picks correctly. Here are my picks:

1. Cavs pick Noel
2. Orlando Magic pick Len
3. Washington Wizards pick Oladipo
4. Charlotte Bobcats pick McLemore
5. Phoenix Suns pick Porter Jr.
6. New Orleans Pelicans pick McCollum
7. Sacramento Kings pick Bennett
8. Detroit Pistons pick Burke
9. Minnesota Timberwolves pick Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
10. Portland Trail Blazers pick Shabazz Muhammad
