2013 NBA Draft: Cleveland Cavaliers Select Sergey Karasev With No. 19 Pick

With the No. 19 pick of the 2013 NBA Draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers select Sergey Karasev.

Age: 19

Height: 6-foot-7

Position: Small Forward

School/Country: Russia

About the Prospect: The pool of international talent is not all that high here in 2013, but Sergey Karasev nears the top of that list. By way of Russia, Karasev is a crafty, left-hander with an increasing skill set on the offensive end. Karasev is only 19 years of age, so he’s more of a project and it remains to be seen if he will remain overseas until a later date.

About His Impact on Team:

The Cavaliers basically have their starting lineup in place, but there’s no reason why Karasev shouldn’t see some playing time during his rookie season. Karasev did average 16.1 points per game last season and certainly has some potential as an international player–so it will be interesting to see how this pick works out with Cleveland.

Keep in mind the Cavaliers have a young team on the rise, so for all we know–Karasev will fit in just fine. The fact that Karasev’s height allows him to stretch the floor could be a huge advantage for the rookie heading into the 2013-14 season.
