2013 NBA Draft: Dallas Mavericks Select Kelly Olynyk With No. 13 Pick

With the No. 13 pick of the 2013 NBA Draft, the Dallas Mavericks select Kelly Olynyk.

Age: 22

Height: 7-foot

Position: Center

School/Country: Gonzaga

About the Prospect: There might no have been any other player who burst onto the scene this past season than Gonzaga center Kelly Olynyk. A true 7-footer with one of the highest motors in the draft, Olynyk brings a sense of toughness and improving ability to the NBA ranks. Olynyk has had a long road to the NBA and he wasn’t even considered a prospect until this past season in which he took control of a Gonzaga squad that earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Olynyk is a strong, front court addition.

About His Impact on Team:

After redshirting the previous year, Olynyk emerged as one of the biggest surprises last year and even helped Gonzaga earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The great thing about Olynyk is he’s one of the most physical big men in the country and he’s not afraid of a little contact against his opponents. It may take a year or two for him to develop before he’s really effective, but this seems like a solid pick to select Olynyk at this point in the first round.
