2013 NBA Draft: Indiana Pacers Select Solomon Hill With No. 23 Pick

With the No. 23 pick of the 2013 NBA Draft, the Indiana Pacers select Solomon Hill of Arizona.

Age: 22

Height: 6-foot-7

Position: Small Forward

School/Country: Arizona

About the Prospect:

When looking at Hill, this is an athletic player capable of getting to the rim, but he still has a long way to go when it comes to fighting for a roster spot. Still, Hill showed plenty of potential during his time with the Wildcats and played a key role in helping them reach the NCAA Tournament this year. Hill is a great defensive player, but he certainly needs to work on his shooting skills if he’s going to have any chance of being effective at the NBA level.

About His Impact on Team:

This is certainly an interesting pick for the Pacers considering it’s difficult to imagine where Hill fits on the roster. Indiana turned into one of the biggest surprises last season as they reached the Eastern Conference Finals before losing to the Miami Heat.

When looking at the Pacers, this is a team with the potential to be one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference once again. In other words, even if Hill did end up making the roster, it’s unlikely he would see significant playing time as a rookie–which is why it was a surprise to see Indiana make this pick at No. 23.
