2013 NBA Draft: Utah Jazz Select Gorgui Dieng With No. 21 Pick

With the 21st pick of the 2013 NBA Draft, the Utah Jazz select Gorgui Dieng.

Age: 23

Height: 6-foot-10

Position: Center

School/Country: Louisville

About the Prospect: Gorgui Dieng entered the collegiate ranks as a raw prospect, but after three seasons under Louisville head coach Rick Pitno, he has molded himself into a true, first round talent. Dieng has good size for his position and he has the tools to be a defensive stud in the NBA. Deing is not a prolific scorer, so he needs to improve his offensive game, but he’s still developing, so he’s the type of talent that has been selected considering potential and upside.

About His Impact on Team:

The Jazz hope Dieng can provide the same type of impact as he did with Cardinals when they won the National Championship last year considering how much of a force he is down low. At 6-foot-10, Dieng has great size and potential for the NBA level–so it will certainly be interesting to see the type of impact he makes during his rookie season in 2013-14.

Still, despite his potential, there are still some areas of concern for Dieng when it comes to playing for Utah and he may need a year or two to develop to the NBA level.
