Andre Iguodala Much Better Fit With Golden State Warriors Than Dwight Howard

A quiet NBA star has found his perfect home at age 29 and he’s pretty happy about it. Minutes after it was announced that Andre Iguodala agreed to a four-year deal with the Golden State Warriors, Iggy tweeted his excitement to star point guard Stephen Curry. Four exclamation points should tell you something.

Iguodala spent last year with the Denver Nuggets after eight seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers. A young, up-and-coming team like the Warriors needed a veteran scorer who could keep up with their fast pace and to say Iguodala fits the bill is a drastic understatement.

Of course, the Warriors are now out of the Dwight Howard race, but Iguodala is a much better fit than the Big Headache would have been. Many think Howard would have been the missing piece to the Warriors’ championship puzzle but Golden State head coach Mark Jackson would have been at the polarizing big man’s throat in a month because he doesn’t deal well with crybabies, divas or drama queens and Howard fits all three descriptions.

Now Jackson has yet another player who fits his team’s playing style and his own philosophy: go hard or go home. And now that Iguodala is officially in Jackson’s fold, my personal favorite quote of the colorful coach applies:

Mama, there goes that man!
