Rant Off: 2013 MLB All-Star Surprises, Snubs

As is the case every year, the MLB All-Star game made a lot of baseball fans really happy and many others very angry. Heck, many of them were both glad and sad when they saw the starting lineups and then even more so when the reserves were revealed. Don’t you just love it when the fans vote the teams?

First up, we had a ton of snubs, but what else is new? Evan Longoria, Shin-Soo Choo and Jose Iglesias are three of many names that were left off the All-Star rosters and shouldn’t have been. Seriously, Iglesias is batting right at .400 this season. How the heck does he not get in?!

There were several surprises as well. How about four Pittsburgh Pirates on the National League roster? Pedro Alvarez, Andrew McCutchen, Jeff Locke and Jason Grilli are all going to the big exhibition.

Did anyone see that coming? You — squirrely-looking dude in the back — put your hand down.

I’m sorry, but Justin Verlander and David Ortiz simply do not belong in the 2013 MLB All-Star Game. They only made it because of their names and they’re having average years at best. It’s time to show the true talent some love, regardless of popularity and get these overrated geezers out of there.
