Victor Cruz Must Deliver After Finally Getting Extension From New York Giants

The long-term NFL contract we’ve been waiting on has been finalized as Victor Cruz will reportedly sign a five-year extension with the New York Giants for $43 million. The deal comes on top of his one-year tender for $2.87 million, which he signed in early June.

So now the G-Men have the Cruz locked up through the 2018 season, but nobody is happier than Giants quarterback Eli Manning, who was seen doing cart wheels down Wall Street after the announcement. Ok, not really, but that would have been hilariously awesome.

Seriously though, Manning reportedly offered to take a pay cut so the Giants could pay Cruz what he wanted because the Super Bowl-winning quarterback knows just how valuable his top receiver really is and how injury-prone Hakeem Nicks has been over the last few seasons.

Cruz followed up his breakout rookie season with a stellar sophomore campaign, but the Giants are wanting the rising star to help get them a third ring in the Eli era. Put simply, there’s no shortage of firepower on New York’s offense now. Expect six more years of 80-plus catches, 1,000 yards and double-digit touchdowns from No. 80 in the Big Apple.
