Greg Oden is starting to reach a Dwight Howard level of annoyance.
NBA teams across the league are throwing offers Oden’s way just to see the big man sit on his rear and not make a decision. If the injury-prone Andrew Bynum can sign a deal so quickly, than what’s this seven-footer waiting for? The Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs have already expressed interest in No. 52 this offseason, but the laundry list of teams after Oden just seems to grow by the day.
On Wednesday, the New Orleans Pelicans reportedly shoved a two-year deal Oden’s was worth a total of $6 million. In true Oden fashion, the Pelicans have not heard back from him and nor should they.
If the Heat want you to play in South Beach then you go!
Oden is foolish if he doesn’t jump at the opportunity to play for the back-to-back NBA champions on a nightly basis. The injury-riddled center would be playing alongside LeBron James for at least one season and would also give the Heat a fighting chance against some of the tougher teams in the league.
Everyone forgets that the Indiana Pacers outplayed the Miami big men for most of the Eastern Conference Finals. With Oden in the mix, the Heat would be able to get the ball inside more often and finally have a defensive stopper for the first time since Shaquille O’Neal was in South Beach.
However, Oden is going to continue his little parade and probably wind up signing with the irrelevant Pelicans. Good luck with that, Greg.
