2013 Fantasy Football Profile: Montee Ball’s Draft Stock On the Rise
Name: Montee Ball
Team: Denver Broncos
Position: Running Back
Years Pro: Rookie
Draft Stock: (Rising) With Willis McGahee getting released earlier this offseason, everyone is jumping on the Ball bandwagon. In addition the folks in Denver are ranting and raving about their second-round running back, who many feel is a first-round talent.
2012 fantasy impact: While Ball wasn’t on the NFL gridiron in 2012, he did play a ton of meaningful downs for the Wisconsin Badgers. In fact, the running back set the an NCAA record by rushing for 83 touchdowns. However, the reason he slipped in the draft was because of the amount of mileage he has put on his legs. Let’s see if his collegiate excellence can transfer into the professional level.
Best-case scenario: Due to the Broncos’ success, Ball is able to get plenty of garbage-time carries and takes advantage of being a starting running back on a star-studded offense.
Worst-case scenario: Ball’s touchdowns are nonexistent due to Peyton Manning‘s red-zone excellence and Ball’s best days were wasted in college.
Where you should draft him: Don’t reach for a running back on Peyton Manning’s team. If Ball is available in the fourth round of your fantasy football draft then snag him, but if he’s not there don’t fret because there are other running backs with just as much upside.
