2013 Fantasy Football Player Profile: Justin Blackmon’s Draft Stock Dropping
Name: Justin Blackmon
Team: Jacksonville Jaguars
Position: Wide Receiver
Years Pro: 1
Draft stock: (Dropping) Blackmon lost a lot of fans when he was suspended by the NFL for violating the substance abuse policy, which means that a lot of fantasy football owners will probably avoid him this year. These are the kind of guys that you should strike on, because the risk is low and the reward is incredibly high.
2012 fantasy impact: I wouldn’t say that Blackmon disappointed in 2012 — he finished the year with 865 receiving yards and five touchdowns. In the final eight weeks of his first season, Blackmon had four TDs and excelled with Chad Henne as the Jags’ quarterback.
Best-case scenario: Blackmon’s productive rookie campaign spills into his shortened sophomore year. The Jaguars realize that he’s the future and Blackmon becomes a prime-time wideout in this league starting in Week 5.
Worst-case scenario: The Jags offense is so pitiful that Cecil Shorts is the only wide receiver who gets any love. Blackmon’s suspension rubs Jacksonville the wrong way and it shows.
Where you should draft him: If you can get Blackmon around the 12th round than he’s a steal. Heck, if you’re feeling lucky than snag him in the 11th!
