NFL Training Camp 2013 Injury Update: Jeremy Maclin, Dan Koppen, Dennis Pitta

The NFL injury bug bit hard the weekend before the beginning of the NFL preseason as the Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens all lost important pieces of their offenses for the season due to injuries. Needless to say, other teams are taking notice.

Philly will be without leading receiver Jeremy Maclin, who was supposed to help try to stabilize the Eagles’ rough quarterback situation. Now Chip Kelly will be without one of his top offensive weapons while trying to decide who should start under center and who should be the future of the franchise after this season.

The Broncos lost starting center Dan Koppen, whose teams have gone 108-28 in his 10 NFL seasons. Now Peyton Manning has only one starter on the offensive line from last season and will have to take snaps from Manny Ramirez — no, not that Manny — while trying to become the first quarterback to lead two different teams to Super Bowl titles.

Besides Joe Flacco, fantasy football owners everywhere are mourning the loss of Dennis Pitta for the season after the Ravens’ tight end caught 61 passes for almost 700 yards and seven touchdowns in Baltimore’s Super Bowl run. Now Visanthe Shiancoe will get another shot in the NFL with the defending champs.
