Name: Ryan Williams
Team: Arizona Cardinals
Position: Running Back
Years Pro: 2
Draft Stock: (Stagnant) Cards head coach Bruce Arians caused a bunch of fuss when he hinted at Williams being a factor with Arizona. Give me a break, this is just a rookie coach being nice to all of his players — don’t look into it. With that being said, at 23 years old, Williams is an enticing prospect to some near-sided NFL fans.
2012 fantasy impact: Once again, Williams flopped. In 2012 Williams was a non factor and prior to a season-ending shoulder injury in Week 5, he averaged 2.82 yards per carry. That’s awful and is not what you want on your fantasy team. Injuries have been the story of Williams’ short career and that should be a huge red flag.
Best-case scenario: Williams has a wonderful preseason camp and looks like he did as a second-round pick in 2011. His quickness is regained and the Cardinals have found the future at running back in No. 34.
Worst-case scenario: Arizona moves on from Williams as Rashard Mendenhall makes Williams expendable. The Cardinals cut Williams prior to the start of the season.
Where you should draft him: I’m not touching Williams with a ten-foot pole. I was duped in 2012 thinking he would rebound from injury, which was hardly the case. Williams is a risk even in the 14th round, so buyer beware.
