Pitching at the legendary Fenway Park has got to be a treat.
Well, Jake Peavy will be taking the ball for the Boston Red Sox on Saturday for the first time in his 12-year MLB career. However, this isn’t the first time that Peavy has made a start in the Red Sox’ infamous home ballpark.
Back in 2011, the Chicago White Sox visited the Red Sox and Peavy dazzled by pitching seven great innings and allowing just three earned runs. In fact, the White Sox would get the upper hand and Peavy left Beantown with the win. Meanwhile, the Red Sox are hoping he can stay undefeated through the weekend as the Arizona Diamondbacks are in town and have seen a ton of Peavy.
In fact, the D-Backs have faced the wild-eyed starter 29 times in Peavy’s career, so they have a pretty good idea what he brings to the table on a nightly basis.
When Peavy takes the Fenway Park mound on Saturday he won’t feel too out of place as Peavy hasn’t faced any MLB team more than he as the Diamondbacks. Hopefully this familiarity can help Peavy ease his way into a new life with in Boston.
