Yu Darvish’s Exceptional Game Must Ignite Texas Rangers for 2013 MLB Playoff Push

Man, that $100 million the Texas Rangers spent to get Yu Darvish looks like a pretty good investment now, huh? The Texas ace absolutely dominated the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday night for his team’s fourth straight win. Dude struck out 14 batters in seven innings! That’s doin’ work!

So now the Rangers are 3.5 games behind the A’s in the AL West and one game out of a Wild Card spot and on fire right now with three straight walk-off home runs before Darvish’s incredible performance. Things are looking up for Texas…for now.

The suspension for Nelson Cruz‘s involvement with the Biogenesis clinic is looming and the Rangers didn’t do anything to prepare for it at the 2013 MLB trade deadline, so they’ll need a lot more of Darvish and Matt Garza and then heavy doses of Matt Harrison and Colby Lewis when both starters are healthy again.

But pitching isn’t really the issue in Texas right now; the Rangers need the firepower they displayed in those three walk-off games to sustain for the rest of the season and into the playoffs. This team needs its loaded lineup to wake up for a push to win the AL West.

Basically, it’s time for everyone in Texas to follow Darvish’s lead and put up or shut up.
