Over the last month, baseball fans have tirelessly waited for MLB to pony up and finally suspended Performance Enhancing Drug users like Alex Rodriguez. Well, the infamous day of suspensions is nearing and it looks like A-Rod isn’t going down without a fight. He may be as guilty as they come, but Rodriguez is doing his best to just get back on the diamond.
In fact, when the New York Yankees face the Chicago White Sox tonight A-Rod will likely be in uniform as the Yankees’ starting third baseman. However, his long-awaited 2013 debut is going to come with a large asterisk next to it. Evidently, Rodriguez is going to get suspended by MLB on Monday for the rest of the 2013 season and all of the 2014 campaign. Yet, A-Rod is expected to appeal his suspension which would allow him to play on Monday night against the White Sox.
My head hurts…
If Rodriguez’s appeal doesn’t go in his favor, the disgruntled third baseman would be out of $34.2 million — with this much money at stake it’s understandable forRodriguez to do whatever it takes to remain on the field.
Stay tuned to see how A-Rod’s Monday shakes out as the three-time AL MVP could be suspended and make his 2013 season debut in the same day.
