Name: David Wilson
Team: New York Giants
Position: Running Back
Years Pro: 1
Draft stock: (Rising) The Wilson hype is getting out of hand as even Giants legend Tiki Barber said “He is as dynamic a player at that position that the Giants have ever had” when referring to Wilson. Combining those praises with a opening-day starting job, Wilson’s name is scooting up draft boards faster than you can believe.
2012 fantasy impact: Wilson didn’t hit the ground running like many Giants fans thought he would in 2012. For instance, Wilson didn’t even rush for double-digit yards in a game until Week 5 of last season. However, the rookie back did find his way to the end zone four times, which is hard to do as a first-year NFL player.
Best-case scenario: New York gives the rushing reins over to Wilson, who excels as an every-down back and even vultures a few red-zone carries from Andre Brown.
Worst-case scenario: Just like when Ahmad Bradshaw was out of action in 2012, Brown outshines Wilson and the ladder’s long-awaited emergence doesn’t come this fall. Instead, Wilson’s ball-security issues keep him sidelined yet again.
Where you should draft him: Wilson may be a calculated risk to some, yet if he still hasn’t proven enough to me to be a round-three selection in this year’s fantasy draft.
