2013 Fantasy Football Profile: Green Bay Packers D/ST Will Rebound In Big Way

Name: Green Bay Packers D/ST

Position: Defense/Special Teams

Draft stock: (Dropping) After the San Francisco 49ers wiped the floor with the Packers’ defense in last year’s postseason, fantasy football owners had to be hesitant about drafting anyone on Green Bay’s defense. However, the folks in the Cheese State appear pumped about their revamped defense.

2012 fantasy impact — Ranking (14) It wasn’t pretty for this Dom Capers-lead squad as Green Bay was routinely bloodied at the line of scrimmage and Clay Matthews wasn’t able to shed double teams like he did the year previous. Once again, the injury bug hit this defense hard as Nick Perry was supposed to be a play-making defensive end in his rookie year, but that never came to fruition.

Best-case scenario: Matthews and the Packers’ defense both get their act together in 2012 and it all start up front with a revamped defensive line. Perry emerges as a stout defensive lineman.

Worst-case scenario: Capers tries to reinvent the wheel once again and Green Bay lacks the talent in the secondary to hand with other fantasy football defenses. Once again, the Packers rank in teens across the NFL.

Where you should draft them: If you draft the Packers’ defense prior to the 13th round then you’re over thinking fantasy football in general. Green Bay has some bright spots, yet they will be available in the 15th round of most drafts.
