2013 Fantasy Profile: Rob Housler Looks Like Next Best Thing at Tight End

Name: Rob Housler

Team: Arizona Cardinals

Position: Tight end

Years Pro: 2

Draft stock: (Rising) Carson Palmer and Bruce Arians are both conjuring up optimism in the desert and Housler’s draft stock is getting a nice boost. Considering Housler has gotten better in each of his two NFL seasons, it’s no surprise to see so many fantasy football owners sold on the Cardinals’ tight end.

2012 fantasy impact: Housler only started nine games for Arizona last season, but he made his presence felt with 417 yards receiving. Arizona’s array of putrid quarterbacks kept Housler out of the endzone in 2012, which is never a good sign for fantasy football owners.

Best-case scenario: Palmer and Housler form a connection similar to that of Drew Brees and Jimmy Graham with the New Orleans Saints. Housler’s ability to produce in the red zone makes this tight end an All-Pro in just his third season.

Worst-case scenario: The Cards’ offense scuffles once again and Housler rarely even sniffs the red zone. A tough NFC West schedule doesn’t allow Housler to get in a grove and it shows.

Where you should draft him: Considering Housler doesn’t even have a professional touchdown to his name, it’s more than likely that he doesn’t get taken in your fantasy football draft. However, feel free to take a risk on No. 84 if he’s available in the 14th round.
