Tiger Woods No Longer Favorite at 2013 PGA Championship After Poor First Round

Don’t believe the hype, folks. We said don’t bet on Tiger Woods in the 2013 PGA Championship and he showed why in the first round on Thursday by stumbling through the back nine on his way to a one-over-par finish.

Tiger started off well, birdying two of his first six holes before a bogy on 13 and then a double bogey on his final hole. He put a lot of pressure on himself throughout the tournament by keeping his approach shorts below the hole and that meant he had to be flawless on and around the greens. Put simply, he wasn’t.

Tiger finished tied for 86th, six strokes behind leader Jim Furyk and there were still quite a few golfers who hadn’t teed off yet. So basically, Tiger will head into round two on Friday with a huge hole to climb out of already. It’s really early, but are you still confident in that bet you made that he’d win this tournament? Didn’t think so.
