PGA Championship 2013: Jason Dufner Becomes Household Name With Win, #Dufnering

Jason Dufner has become more popular after his first major tournament win than he could have ever imagined, and it’s not just because of his play in the 2013 PGA Championship. The 36-year-old Cleveland native overcame a rocky start to his third round to put a chokehold on the leaderboard at Oak Hill Sunday for a two-stroke, 10-under-par victory to cap the 2013 major season with the biggest win of his career. But it was what happened next that made him a household name.

Back in March, Deadspin posted a picture of Dufner and it got some good laughs then but now that everyone knows who Dufner is, this new pose called #Dufnering has taken the Internet by storm. Golfers like Rickie Fowler, Rory McIlroy, Bubba Watson, Luke Donald and others have posted pictures of themselves on their social media accounts imitating the pose and making fun of their competitor, which has led many fans to do the same.

Of course, the main focus for Dufner is finishing the 2013 golf season on a strong note and getting geared up to win more majors in 2014. He’ll have plenty of competition along the way and probably a few laughs as well.
