Death of Ryan Anderson’s girlfriend, Gia Allemand, Saddens Sports World

The hearts of the sports world go out to New Orleans Pelicans forward Ryan Anderson, who lost his girlfriend, Gia Allemand, on Wednesday. Multiple reports say that Allemand, a former “Bachelor” contestant, died less than 48 hours after a suicide attempt.

TMZ reported that Anderson found Allemand unconscious and hanging in her home on Monday night while E! reported that she was found unconscious on the floor. Both reports state that Anderson rushed her to the hospital and she was removed from life support on Wednesday.

Anderson is best known for his time with the Orlando Magic, but was fortunate enough to live near Allemand while playing for the Pelicans as well. Allemand was the second runner-up on the 14th season of “The Bachelor.”

Those who made statements regarding Allemand said she was a practicing Christian and a joy to be around, so it’s unknown at this point why she allegedly took her own life. Regardless, she’ll be missed and the hearts and prayers of the Rant Sports family go out to her family and those close to her. She was 29 years old.
