College Football Rant Off: Heisman Winner, Championship Dark Horse, Favorite

The 2013 college football season is as wide open as any in recent memory despite the fact Alabama is coming off back-to-back BCS National Championships. The Crimson Tide have re-loaded for a run at a three-peat and Nick Saban‘s team is the heavy favorite again this year, regardless of what he says. Still, ‘Bama isn’t the only team playing in 2013.

Ohio State and Georgia are two teams that were on Alabama’s level in 2012 but the undefeated Buckeyes were ineligible for the postseason and the Bulldogs came up four yards short in their bid to knock off the Tide in the SEC Championship Game.

With Heisman Trophy candidates Braxton Miller and Aaron Murray looking to add to their already impressive resumes, these two teams are definitely poised make their own claims to the Coaches’ Trophy this year, and it’s likely Alabama will have to beat both of them to complete the three-peat.

Of course, there’s that prized individual award to be won as well and Miller and Murray have some serious competition from another superstar quarterback, Louisville‘s Teddy Bridgewater. The Cardinals’ hotshot signal-caller bursted onto the scene in 2012 and made his 2013 Heisman campaign official with an incredible performance in his team’s win over Florida in the Sugar Bowl.
