Strength: The Gators’ defense was fantastic in 2012, but it’s going to be even better this fall. In fact, Florida best pass rusher didn’t even play a snap last season – scary right? Ronald Powell is finally healthy, which means the Gators will have yet another speedy defensive end to put alongside Dante Fowler, who is one of the best defensive players in the SEC.

Weakness: Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel was hardly a factor last season and he must improve if the Gators want to play in the National Championship game. Also, the offensive line will once again be a glaring weakness and the offense will hardly be efficient. Without a legitimate passing attack it will be hard for the “Gator Chomp” to be very potent.

Player with most to prove: Powell may be turning heads in practice, but we’ve seen him do this before. Moreover, it’s time for him to step up to the plate and stay healthy enough so that the Gators pass rush can stay competitive. Everyone in Gainesville is getting excited over this hybrid defensive end/linebacker, which means the expectations are going to be for Powell to produce in possibly his last collegiate season.

Projected 2013 regular season record: 9-3
