Team: Georgia Bulldogs
Rant Sports College Football Rank: No. 3
Strength: College Football pundits are calling the Bulldogs’ 2013 offensive line one of the best that the SEC has ever seen. While the praise may be a little premature, it’s easy to drool over the Georgia pass protectors as the Bulldogs’ entire 2012 O-line is returning to campus this fall. Left tackle Kenarious Gates will definitely be a hot commodity come NFL draft time as his size and speed make it easy for Bulldogs’ running back Todd Gurley to be a difference maker.
Weakness: Only three of Georgia’s 2012 defensive starters will be suiting up Week 1 against the Clemson Tigers. While the Bulldogs’ offense is said to do a lot of the heavy lifting, defense is a mainstay in the SEC and the ‘Dogs must pony up on that side of the ball if a conference championship is going to be a reality this season.
Player with most to prove: Believe it or not, it’s Aaron Murray who should have a massive chip on his shoulder this year. Murray was named to the All SEC team this year ahead of studs like Johnny Manziel and A.J. McCarron, which means that the Bulldogs’ quarterback must live up to these rather large expectations. A Heisman Trophy is in Murray’s grasps, yet I think he’d rather finish his senior campaign with a BCS Championship instead.
Projected 2013 regular season record: 11-1
