Rant Sports College Football Team No.1: Alabama Crimson Tide

TeamAlabama Crimson Tide

Rant Sports College Football Rank: No. 1

Strength: A coach like Nick Saban isn’t to be underestimated. While Saban usually gets bashed for his satanic stares, you can’t put a price on experience and no one in college football is more established than the Tide’s skipper. Alabama’s signal caller is also of the experienced variety as A.J. McCarron might just go down as the best quarterback to ever step foot in Tuscaloosa and lead the Tide to victory.

Weakness: Losing offensive linemen Chance Warmack, D.J. Fluker and Barrett Jones to the NFL would be a gigantic blow to the average program. However, this is Alabama we’re talking about, so it’s only a minor deal for a recruiting powerhouse like the Tide. Keeping McCarron upright is the Alabama offensive line’s most important task and it shouldn’t be too difficult with stout left tackle Cyrus Kouandjio now in the mix.

Player with most to prove: Considering the way that Alabama has just spit out top-notch NFL running backs — Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson, Eddie Lacy — the heat is on current running back T.J. Yelden to be a juggernaut in the Tide’s backfield. Look for Yelden to break out in his sophomore season.

Projected 2013 regular season record: 12-0
