College Football's Best Games for Week 2
If Week 1 of college football was any indication, we're in for some wild contests this year. We saw a few upsets, but most of the games ended up the way we thought they would. However, there were several surprises, which means there's uncertainty heading into Week 2. Would any college football fan have it any other way?
The top 25 rankings changed quite a bit after highly-ranked teams like Georgia and TCU lost their opening contests. On the same note, several unranked and overlooked teams made noise in the opening weekend, which means they're now on the radar for Week 2. Can they live up to expectations or are they one-game wonders?
Like Week 1, there are several matchups this week that are sure to result in games that go down to the wire, which is what everyone wants to see. So let's dive right in with the top five college football games on the schedule for Week 2.
5. Florida at Miami
Florida at Miami features a 12th-ranked SEC squad and an underrated Hurricanes team that has a dynamite signal-caller in Stephen Morris. Can you say "upset alert"?
4. Washington State at USC
Washington State at USC showcases another underrated team in the Cougars, who take on a highly-overrated Trojans team that looked as shaky as a leaf on a tree against Hawaii last week. Watch out for Washington State in a Pac-12 upset.
3. Texas at BYU
Texas at BYU should be a high-scoring affair after the Longhorns put up 56 points in Week 1 and the Cougars are ready for their first action of 2013. Texas looks to become the 6th team to win a game in Provo in the last 46 tries and it ain't gonna be easy.
2. Notre Dame at Michigan
Notre Dame at Michigan is more glorified than it should be because of the team names involved, but the two mediocre squads are likely to put on a good show. It will likely be a little sloppy in the first half, but it should go down to the wire, which is what college football fans love.
1. South Carolina at Georgia
South Carolina at Georgia is a classic SEC showdown that is a rematch of an ugly blowout from last year following Aaron Murray's dad being diagnosed with cancer. Now that the Bulldogs are already 0-1 this year after last week's top game -- a loss to Clemson -- Murray's squad will be playing with their backs against a wall, so Jadeveon Clowney's overrated Gamecocks squad better watch out.
