Joe Girardi, Buck Showalter Prove Yankees-Orioles Rivalry is Still Fierce

Who says the New York YankeesBaltimore Orioles rivalry is dead? Forget bench-clearing brawls, how about the managers of the two teams duking it out after the first inning? Baltimore skipper Buck Showalter was not a fan of something New York manager Joe Girardi said when the O’s tied the game 1-1, and he let his counterpart know it.

While no knows exactly what was said, Girardi reportedly said something unfriendly to Orioles third base coach Bobby Dickerson and that didn’t sit well with Showalter. TV replays clearly showed the O’s skipper saying “That’s not right, Joe; talk to me, Joe, not him”. The same replays showed Girardi responding with “What? I know, you’re not the only one in this ballpark”.

It was Showalter who got the last laugh as the Orioles won the first in a four-game series at home against the Bronx Bombers. But with three more contests to be played in the next few days between these two squads, there are sure to be plenty more fireworks as the AL East contenders keep butting heads.
