BMW Championship: Brandt Snedeker Ahead of Frustrated Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy

The BMW Championship got off to a bizarre start on Thursday as several notables produced head-shaking scores, in both good and bad ways. We saw just how good Brandt Snedeker can be as the 32-year-old rising star got off to a hot start at eight under par. He wasn’t nearly the only one to finish well below even, but not everyone was happy with that.

Tiger Woods finished a more-than-respectable five under par, but he made it clear he was disappointed with his performance, just two days after reports surfaced that his girlfriend, Lindsey Vonn, was caught cheating. Woods birdied seven holes at Conway Farms on Thursday, but missed three short puts and that’s what haunted him after the round.

On the other end of the spectrum, Rory McIlroy shot an embarrassing seven over par at the relatively easy course in the third of four FedEx Cup playoff events. At this rate, last year’s champion is likely not going to advance to the Tour Championship. But that would be a fitting end to McIlroy’s disappointing 2013 campaign. There’s always next year, right?
