Jim Furyk Shoots 59 In Historic Second Round Of BMW Championship

Jim Furyk‘s five-hour energy hat is so misleading.

This 43-year-old golfer could be mistaken for an accountant on some days, but his cool and calm demeanor helped him make history on Friday. Believe it or not, Furyk shot a 59 in the second round of BMW Championship to set a course record. In fact, Furyk became just the sixth player in PGA history to shoot such an unbelievably-low score. Furyk wasn’t exactly perfect as he did shoot a bogey in the round, but he also became the first golfer to shoot a bogey and still record a 59 in the round.

Are you impressed yet?

How about this: Furyk shot 11 under par in the second round and came into Friday over par! To say that this guy caught lightning in a bottle would be an understatement. Every so often a golfer goes on an unrealistic tear like this one, but while the records are always fun, Furyk has set his sights on the BMW Championship being firmly on his grasps on Sunday. Keep in mind that this same tournament was won by Rory McIlroy last year and he did so with a score of 20 under par.

Time to step your game up Furyk.
