Zach Johnson, Tiger Woods in Position to Win FedEx Cup After BMW Championship

You know the old saying: What goes up, must come down. Jim Furyk wrote his name in the history books on Friday when he shot the sixth score of 59 in PGA Tour history at the BMW Championship only to fumble the lead away in the final round. That worked out well for Zach Johnson, who took home the victory thanks to some clutch putting on Monday.

So now we turn to the Tour Championship, in which Johnson is now a contender following his win at Conway Farms, which succeeded his performance in the Deutsche Bank Championship that earned him the final spot in the Presidents Cup. Of course, that also means that Johnson is now in position to win the FedEx Cup as well.

Speaking of which, Tiger Woods quietly is leading in the FedEx Cup standings, although he had a forgettable final round at the BMW. But he can put get a nice consolation to the 2013 season by taking home the cup and setting a nice tone for the 2014 season during which he absolutely has to win a major. Hold on to your hats, golf fans because we ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
