Ray Rice Ruled Out of Sunday’s Game; Bernard Pierce A Fantasy Must-Have

The last time that Ray Rice missed an NFL regular season game; the year was 2008 and some rookie named Joe Flacco was the Baltimore Ravens‘ quarterback. Unfortunately, Rice’s iron-man streak will come to screeching halt on Sunday as the Ravens have reportedly ruled Rice out of their Week 3 matchup against the Houston Texans. For those of you scoring at home, Rice has played in 42 straight games dating back to his rookie season.

Moreover, the fantasy football world is sure to feel the impact of Rice not suiting up on Sunday. This is a huge blow to those who drafted Rice considering he was a first-round pick in most drafts, and was actually supposed to have an enormous year with the Ravens letting red-zone target Anquan Boldin hit the road. Instead, the usually healthy Rice will now be hindered by a hip injury for the remainder of the season.

Thankfully, reports say that Rice is no longer limping, which means that Baltimore shouldn’t be without its star running back for too long.

Additionally, the Ravens have a more than able back-up in Bernard Pierce, who is definitely starter worthy in your fantasy football line-up this week. In fact, the Texans’ defense just yielded 96 rushing yards to Chris Johnson in Week 2, so the shifty Pierce could have a field day against J.J. Watt and company as well.
