Joe Flacco threw five interceptions on Sunday.
Just let that sink in.
The Baltimore Ravens are now 2-2 and although the AFC North looks like one of the worst divisions in football, Flacco and company could be watching the postseason at home for the first time since 2007. With Anquan Boldin now a member of the San Francisco 49ers, NFL fans knew that Flacco would have a difficult time adjusting to his new wide receiving core. However, no one expected the reigning Super Bowl MVP to throw five interceptions against a less-than-stellar Buffalo Bills team.
To be fair, Flacco isn’t the only Ravens’ high-profile player not living up to expectations. Ray Rice has also been a shell of himself and now it looks like his injured right hip is more serious than we initially thought — Rice only had five carries for 17 yards in Baltimore’s loss to the Bills.
Most feel sorry for Flacco and his lack of offensive weapons, but keep in mind that the Ravens committed over $102 million to Flacco this off-season, which means that No. 5 shouldn’t be throwing more interceptions (7) than touchdowns (5) this far into the season.
Stay tuned to see if the folks in Baltimore are begging for Flacco to get benched this time next month…
