Vince Wilfork’s Torn Achilles Tendon Could Doom New England Patriots’ Season

So far in 2013, the New England Patriots have found a way to overcome all the adversity that has plagued their season and their 4-0 start proves that. However, the latest blow to the team may virtually end New England’s chances at winning a fourth Super Bowl during the Tom Brady era.

Vince Wilfork is the anchor of not only the Patriots’ defense line, but their entire defense as a whole. The mammoth defensive tackle suffered a torn Achilles tendon during his team’s Sunday night win over the Atlanta Falcons, which leaves New England with three healthy defensive tackles on the roster, none of which are ready to fill the huge shoes left by Wilfork.

So now an even heavier burden has been placed on Brady during this season filled with off-the-field obstacles and a slew of injuries to key players. And with the toughest part of their schedule left to be played, this season is about to get even more interesting for the Patriots, even though that was previously thought to be impossible.
