Ohio State vs. Northwestern: Upset on the Horizon?

Evanston, Illinois is getting lots of media hype as the area prepares for a game with tremendous BCS National Championship implications. The No. 16 Northwestern Wildcats and No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes will face off in a Big Ten battle for the spotlight on Saturday with the home team smelling a major upset.

Northwestern is 4-0 and needs to use this game to prove it’s a legitimate conference title contender. The Wildcats are coming off a bye week and while that is typically a good thing for most teams, it is somewhat of a curse for them as they have a losing history under Pat Fitzgerald, following a week off.

On offense, the Wildcats will be showing off both of their explosive quarterbacks in an effort to make the game as high-scoring as possible. And even though the Buckeyes have a nationally-ranked defense, Northwestern will be forcing turnovers to play for the win.

Ohio State had a successful game against Wisconsin last week and Braxton Miller is playing better than ever. But this game against the Wildcats is really the biggest obstacle in the Buckeyes’ national title quest all season.

If you are like other college football fans, you will be tuning into this game and rooting hard for Northwestern because an Ohio State loss would open the door to a dozen other teams to get into the national championship discussion, including the Wildcats.

Put simply, a win for Northwestern would be huge! It would prove the Wildcats can play with the big boys and they are a Big Ten team to be reckoned with. Northwestern will need to play disciplined and quick to make this a game to remember.
