Bulldogs Fend Off Volunteers; SEC Remains As Unpredictable As Ever
It wasn’t pretty, but the Georgia Bulldogs fended off the Tennessee Volunteers and left Knoxville with their undefeated SEC record still in tact. Naturally, many expected the Bulldogs to steamroll the Volunteers, so college football fans were shocked when Aaron Murray was forced to lead a game-tying drive just to force the Volunteers to overtime.
Without veteran leadership from Murray, the Volunteers would have won this game.
With all of that being said, Georgia’s near loss taught us something about the SEC: it’s a completely wide-open conference where anyone can sneak out a victory. After a hectic September full of prime-time matchups, the Bulldogs were seen as the team to beat in the SEC East from this point moving forward. An unimpressive win versus the ‘Vols and suddenly Georgia isn’t as high and mighty as we first thought.
Keep an eye on the SEC as the weeks progress because both divisions are sure to be highly competitive down the stretch.
