Michael Wacha Shines As St. Louis Cardinals Inch Closer To NLCS

When Albert Pujols left the St. Louis Cardinals for the Los Angeles Angels, many Redbirds fans thought their favorite MLB franchise was doomed.

However, the Cards have managed to make the playoffs without their ex-first basemen for two straight years and the 2013 MLB Postseason could end with St. Louis taking home the Commissioner’s Trophy once again. Pujols wound up with the Angels via free agency, but the Cardinals did receive a compensatory-draft pick which they would later use on Michael Wacha.

It’s plain to see that Wacha has definitely made the Cards fans forget all about “King Albert.” The 22-year old ace was exceptional against the Pittsburgh Pirates in Game 4 of the NLDS as his big-time win has kept the Cardinals in the playoffs…for now.

Stay tuned to see if Wacha’s near no-hitter lights a fire under the Cardinals or if Pirates rookie pitcher Gerrit Cole can return the favor in Game 5 of the NLDS.
