Ndamukong Suh's $31,500 Fine for Hit on Brandon Weeden is Absurd

Ndamukong Suh is widely be regarded as the dirtiest player in the NFL, but his latest fine is complete bull crap.

The No Fun League dropped the hammer on the Detroit Lions‘ defensive tackle this week by issuing him a $31,500 fine for a hit he put on Cleveland Browns signal-caller Brandon Weeden in Week 6. Despite the fact that Suh’s previous on-the-field antics have painted him as a villain, this latest incident in no way justified the price tag that came with it. The NFL’s big wigs declared that Suh, “made contact with the forehead-hairline” of his helmet, therefore making it an illegal hit.

The ‘forehead-hairline’? C’mon, Roger Goodell! You and I both know that is ridiculous! If you watch the replay closely, it is clear that Suh engaged Weeden with his hands and led with his shoulder to follow through with the tackle — pretty textbook stuff.

While I understand that NFL has made it a point to crackdown on illegal hits this year, there comes a time when you just need to let these guys play. If not, it’s only a matter of time before we start calling American Football…Soccer.
