Greg Oden‘s decision to sign with the Miami Heat this off-season was a surprise to many. NBA fans across the country had grown accustomed to seeing Oden in street clothes more than in his basketball uniform, so his new contract was naturally a shock. With that being said, Oden returned to the court on Wednesday and showed exactly why the Portland Trail Blazers drafted him with the first-overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft.
For the first time since 2009; Oden dunked.
However, this dunk comes with an asterisks as it came in a preseason game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Even still, it’s insane to think that Oden can still get up and dunk. Prior to Wednesday’s contest; Oden hadn’t played in a game in over 1,400 days! Could you imagine not doing something for that long, and then stepping back onto the floor and acting like you’ve been doing slam-dunking everyday for the last four years?
Oden’s future is still extremely bright as he has yet to turn 26 years old, which means the Heat center could thrive alongside LeBron James and company this season.
