Broncos Smash Redskins; Denver Defense Must Come To Play In Coming Weeks

The Denver Broncos‘ offense is starting to come back down the earth.

Peyton Manning threw four more touchdowns in Week 8, but he wasn’t his usual dominant self with three interceptions. Thankfully, the Denver defense was up to the task as it forced five Washington Redskins‘ turnovers, which allowed for Manning and company to work with a short field for most of the game.

With that being said, the Broncos’ defense has been the center of controversy for a bulk of the season as it hasn’t been able to stop opposing offenses — just ask the Dallas Cowboys.

If Denver hopes to finish atop the AFC South and dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs then the defense must continue to take the ball away like it did on Sunday. First and foremost; the resurgence of Von Miller is crucial for the Broncos as their pass rush has been lacking so far in 2013 — Miller is the type of player that can get to the quarterback in a hurry. One thing is for certain: Miller and the Broncos’ defense have their word cut out for them as the Denver schedule isn’t exactly a cakewalk.

After a Week 9 bye, Denver will go on the road and face the San Diego Chargers. After that, the first-place Chiefs come to town and then a game against the New England Patriots in Foxborough is waiting for the Broncos in Week 12. Good luck, Broncos.
