Oregon Stomps UCLA; Ducks Have Earned No. 2 Slot, For Now

The Oregon Ducks have played their way into the No. 2 slot in the Week 10 version of the BCS Standings. However, the folks in Oregon should refrain from celebrating just yet.

First and foremost; Oregon looked like the Ducks we know and love in the second half of their battle with the UCLA Bruins as Marcus Mariota and company rallied to a 42-14 victory after a 14-14 halftime tie. Therefore, the Ducks made the 12th-ranked Bruins look sub-par on Saturday and deserve to be slotted above the Florida State Seminoles, who were dominant as usual with a 49-17 win against the NC State Wolfpack

Nonetheless, the Seminoles will head into their Week 10 match-up with the seventh-ranked Miami Hurricanes having a ton to lose and everything to gain. If the Seminoles can win this game, then that all but insures that Jameis Winston will clash with the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2014 BCS National Championship Game, while the Ducks will be forced to settle for a different BCS Bowl Game.

It’s times like these when you wish College Football‘s playoff system was already in effect.
