Red Sox’ World Series Win Exactly What Baseball Wanted; Michael Wacha Has Bright Future

Wednesday night was a special win for not only true fans of the Boston Red Sox, but the entire baseball world. It had been nearly four decades since a World Series championship was won at Fenway Park, but that trend was bucked when Boston found a way to break through the brick wall that was Michael Wacha and take home the Commissioner’s Trophy.

The beards will now be shaved after the Red Sox won a title at Fenway for the first time in 95 years. Babe Ruth, Carl Mays and Harry Hooper were big names in that series that followed a season shortened by World War I. You can’t make this stuff up!

This year’s Red Sox were truly the best team in baseball, and the best team hoisting the trophy is what everyone wants to see, right? But what will go overlooked is Wacha’s absolutely incredible performance this postseason after he gave up six earned run in three and two-thirds inning in the clincher.

This young Texarkana, Texas native has an extremely bright future in red even though his hometown counterpart, Will Middlebrooks, now has a ring. You can’t take the title away from Beantown, especially with “Boston Strong” mowed into the outfield at Fenway, but remember the name Wacha because he and the St. Louis Cardinals will be back in 2014 and beyond.
