NFC South Race Heats Up With Panthers Win, Saints Loss

The Carolina Panthers have taken advantage of an easy schedule and they currently sit just one game behind the New Orleans Saints for the top spot in the NFC South. Carolina went into the day two games out of the division lead, but a win over the Atlanta Falcons and a stout effort from the New York Jets have resulted in the Panthers moving up the NFC ladder.

Keep in mind that the Panthers haven’t even sniffed the postseason since 2008. Therefore, the folks in Carolina are definitely excited over the fact that Cam Newton and company have a shot at making noise this winter. With that being said, the Panthers have yet to defeat a team with a winning record. However, Carolina plays a rather tough schedule in the coming weeks and it starts with a road game against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 11.

Meanwhile, the Sean Payton-led Saints are a team that knows exactly what it takes to excel in the latter portion of the season. With that in mind, Ron Rivera and the Panthers must answer the call and win the close games in the season’s second half — something that Carolina has struggled with in recent years.
