Jabari Parker Sets College Basketball On Fire; Duke Forward Is For Real

Jabari Parker entered the 2013-14 College Basketball regular season as the most highly-touted high school basketball player since LeBron James. Thankfully, the unbelievable hype didn’t seem to affect the Duke Blue Devils‘ forward as he has the nation under his thumb after just one game. Granted, Parker’s coming-out party was something special to watch.

Parker started Friday’s game against the Davidson Wildcats sinking his first five shots in a row as the freshman forward went into halftime with 16 points. Of course, Parker continued his domination in the second half as he finished his first collegiate game with 22 points on 8-10 shooting and six rebounds to boot. Its safe to say that Davidson didn’t have an answer for the fourth-ranked team in college basketball or its top player.

Sure, expectations are always high in Durham, North Carolina, but this year head coach Mike Krzyzewski knows that if this team doesn’t cut down the nets then the entire season will be summed up in one word — failure. With that much in mind, keep an eye on Parker as he pairs with Mississippi State Bulldogs transfer Rodney Hood to try and bring Duke a National Championship for the first time since 2010.
