In all honesty; NFL fans didn’t really learn anything from the Sunday night bout between the Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints. At the end of the day, these same three things remain true even after an impressive Saints’ win: Drew Brees is still really good, the Saints’ defense is good enough and the Cowboys are consistently inconsistent. However, one thing happened in this “Superdome Showdown” that is worth noting:

Sean Lee — the Cowboys’ top defender and arguably the best middle linebacker in the NFL, left Sunday’s contest with an injured left hamstring and did not return. This is awful news as Lee only played in six games last year after season-ending surgery on his big-toe. After Lee went down in 2012, Rob Ryan‘s mismatched group was never able to rebound. Now, for the second straight year; Dallas will likely have to fight on without Lee as the captain of that defense.

The NFC (L)East is easily the worst division in football, but without Lee the Cowboys’ quest for the postseason is going to fall short for a fourth straight season.
