Jets Brilliant To Snag Ed Reed, Who Finds Himself in Perfect Situation

Before the 2013 NFL season began, it was nearly impossible to find any optimism within the New York Jets‘ fan base. The Tim Tebow stench was all over the Big Apple and Mark Sanchez‘s stock was falling harder than a bag of rocks. However, here we are in Week 11 and if the playoffs started today then the Jets would be a six seed with a punchers chance at the Lombardi Trophy. It may sound insane, but New York is playing great football and believe it or not the Jets got even better on Thursday.

After a short-lived and disappointing stint with the Houston Texans; All-Pro safety Ed Reed hit the free agent market this week and spent no time finding a new home. Reunited with his former defensive coordinator Rex Ryan, Reed is now a Jet and finds himself in the middle of a postseason push. Baltimore Ravens fans know exactly what Reed brings to the table considering he helped Ray Lewis ride off into the sunset with a Super Bowl ring last year. No one is really sure how much Reed has left in the tank, but this a great move for New York. The Jets’ top ranked rush defense has been excellent all year, and now Ryan’s group has a bonafide leader in the secondary, who plays best when everyone is watching.
