NFL Game of the Week: Broncos at Patriots

Sunday Night Football in Week 12 is going to be a gem. The New England Patriots are hosting the Denver Broncos in the 14th edition of the Peyton Manning vs. Tom Brady rivalry. There are so many ironies to this matchup and so much on the line that it’s arguably the most important regular season meeting between these two future Hall of Famers and the outcome could determine whether they meet again this year.

In 10 games this year, Brady has turned in eight pedestrian performances; he’s simply not the fantasy football juggernaut he once was, yet the Patriots are still 7-3. However, Brady will have to put up points at a rapid pace to keep up with the Broncos’ dynamic offense, something that should be easier than expected considering he’s at home and Denver’s defense hasn’t exactly been lights out this year.

On the flip side, Manning is one pace to break every single-season passing record in the book, including the 50-touchdown mark set by Brady in 2007. But the teams matter most in this contest because the Broncos currently have a two-game lead as the AFC’s No. 1 seed while the Patriots can pretty much give up on a first-round bye if they lose this game.

When you fight fire with fire, you usually lose against Peyton Manning. Expect Denver to win this one and put the AFC playoff race on the rocks, as our very own Devin O’Barr likes to say. In short, make sure you’re in front of the TV on Sunday night.
